little players group structure

Group Structure
~  At players we believe that pupils develop  quicker  within their own peer groups.

Just a little example for our aims for each group ~

We strive to give the best training to every pupil and for all pupils to be actively involved at all times in diverse imaginative, friendly, fun and informative workshops.

This is extremely important to us and we plan our sessions accordingly. We want every child feeling they have achieved a little more each week depending on their individual needs.  All this is carried out in an honest and caring environment.

Here is a little example of our teachings ~

Group A (school years 7 & 8)

This group spends less time playing drama games as they start preparation for the older school. They focus on developing new acting skills and creating their roles for showcases.  We find the sense of pride and achievement the children feel after an outstanding performance greatly outweighs the lack of group games.

Group B (school years 5 & 6)

This is where children start to contribute many of the ideas within workshops from the title of the play, through to staging and lines this gives them their creative scope to push their imaginations further.

lp-group C

Group C (school years – 1, 2, 3 & 4)

this class is split please see below.

This is where the Exploring starts.  Children will develop an initial understanding of drama through discussion and action.

Please note that school years 1 & 2 and  3 & 4 though In the same group, sessions are structured to suit 1 & 2 separately from 3 & 4.

Within Acting classes in group C part of our style is process-driven and rooted in Acting & Physical Theatre.   Children will learn to use their bodies and physicality to create scenery and props as a group and individually. This means that even if a pupil is not speaking in a scene, there is still and always a vital role for them in class – they are not just ‘standing at the back’ waiting to talk.

We have a magical costume trunk that comes out in Acting workshops for the younger ones to delve into and create fabulous characters but at the same time doing this through ‘play’.

At players there is just sooooo much going on ~ that is why we have an offer of a ‘Free Taster Day’ as some things can’t be talked about but only experienced.
